Course Overview

STEM is a subject or concept that can seem both obvious and daunting at the same time, even for those who already teach one or more of its learning areas. If this sounds like you, this Bloc will both demystify what STEM is, and give you actionable insights into the underlying principles that can make it work for your learners.

This Knowledge Bloc introduces educators to two key levels that help with getting STEM up and running for your learners. The first is a top level look at the what and why of ‘STEM’ as a discipline and learning area, and the second is a deeper dive into the foundational aspects that contribute to its ability to help Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths to be much more than just the sum of their parts.

Participants will learn how the field developed and reflect on its place at their organisation or school, and have the chance to begin integrating the factors of a successful STEM program into their practice. 

The Bloc is primarily designed for educators still learning about STEM and those who want to explore different ways to begin integrating it into their teaching.
